Meet the Owners

Cherie Thompson

I am a mom to 6 grown kids and 15 grandkids. My family is very important to me and a very big part of my life. I have recently retired from teaching with Clark County School District for 30 years. I taught full-time for 22 years teaching first and third grade.

After getting my library endorsement, I switched to teaching in the school library. I also taught as a substitute teacher for CCSD for 8 years where I taught all grade levels, including early childhood and special needs classes.

I have a Master’s degree in education along with my library endorsement. I love teaching, and I am not ready to give up watching that inspiring growth in the little ones that comes with learning, so teaching preschool at GIGGLE NEST, LLC is exactly what I need.

I look forward to working with the parents to see to the academic and social needs of the children here at the center.

I believe children learn best when learning is geared to the individual needs of each student and learning is made fun, interesting, and challenging. I also believe in positive reinforcement and respect for all.

My goals for our preschoolers are varied according to the ages of the children and their abilities. I plan to teach literacy skills, such as letter knowledge, word recognition, and early basic reading skills.

In math, I want the students to learn number skills, such as counting, number recognition, and a basic understanding of problem solving.

The students will have fun with nursery rhymes, storytelling, and lots of interaction with books. I believe it is never too early to teach children to develop a love of reading and will see to it that each of your little ones gains that love.

Brianna Torres

I would like to share a little about myself. I come from a family of five brothers and sisters, so my experience with siblings, nieces, and nephews is quite extensive.

I started babysitting when I was 10 and have loved caring for children for as long as I can remember. When I was a little older, I worked for the city of Henderson at a recreation center with their after-school kids’ program called CAP Club.

I also ran the weekend preschool classes. This program included a cooking course, arts and crafts, and teaching letters, numbers, shapes etc.

Later, as a single mom with my two older children, I started a Nevada-licensed in-home daycare for six children. I was successful with this for over 4 years while my children were not yet in school.

When I remarried, I closed and went to work outside of the home. A few years later when I had another baby, I wanted to stay home and recertified to do in-home daycare for twelve children.

To this day, I keep in contact with most of my former daycare children. I still host parties for them all to get together and have fun and keep in touch with each other.

I also remain friends with most of the parents who used me as a daycare provider and stay in contact with them as well. I have also worked as a legal assistant for a few attorneys, and I held several office assistants’ positions.

I received an Associate degree in Medical Assisting and put in 2 years of nursing school before returning to my passion with children. My favorite part of caring for children is the inside jokes like a silly dance or phrase we say.

I take pride in my ability to connect with children and love to go to work to play! I am excited to expand into a licensed childcare facility with my mom and focus more on social and developmental skills with kids under 3, while still maintaining that at-home atmosphere where children thrive.
